Treatment:
For active immunisation of calves from 3 months of age to reduce hyperthermia and to minimise the reduction of leukocyte count caused by bovine viral diarrhoea virus (BVD-1 and BVD-2), and to reduce virus shedding and viraemia caused by BVDV.
For active immunisation of cattle against BVD-1 and BVD-2, to prevent the birth of persistently infected (PI) calves caused by transplacental infection.
Dosage:
The vaccine is given to cattle as a single 2ml injection into the muscle.
Protection starts three weeks after vaccination and lasts for one year. To prevent the birth of a PI calf the vaccine should be given at least three weeks before insemination/breeding.
Do not vaccinate within 21 days of slaughter.
Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons and animals. Although this vaccine has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, failure thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons. If this is suspected, seek veterinary advice and notify the registration holder.
Composition:
Each 2,0 ml dose contains:
Modified live BVDV-1, non-cytopathic, parent strain KE-9
At least: 1 x 104,0 TCID50 Maximum: 1 x 106,0 TCID50
Modified live BVDV-2, non-cytopathic, parent strain NY-93
At least: 1 x 104,0 TCID50 Maximum: 1 x 106,0 TCID50
Solvent:
2 ml Washed phosphate buffered saline (WPBS) for dilution.
Packaging:
Store between 2 °C and 8 °C. Do not freeze. Keep the vaccine and the solvent containers in the outer package. Shelf-life after reconstitution according to directions: 8 hours at room temperature. Do not use after expiry date, which is stated on the carton and the bottle.
